Building onprevious work, it brings together experts from the fields ofmedieval Western, Byzantine and Middle Eastern studies to examinehow the marches and voyages were actually made. Questions ofmanpower, types and means of transportation by land and sea,supplies, financial resources, roads and natural land routes, sealanes and natural sailing routes - all these topics and more arecovered here.
