Fatherland

Fatherland is a bold, ambitious show about contemporaryfatherhood in all its complexities and contradictions. Created byFrantic Assembly's Scott Graham, Karl Hyde from Underworld andplaywright Simon Stephens (Punk Rock, The Curious Incident ofthe Dog in the Night-Time), this daring collage of words, music and movement confronts the complexities and contradictions ofcontemporary fatherhood.A vivid, urgent and deeply personal portrait of 21st-centuryEngland at the crossroads of past, present and future, the play isinspired by conversations with fathers and sons from the writers'home towns in the heart of the country. Tender and tough, honestand true, Fatherland is a vital and necessary show aboutwhat we were, who we are and what we'd like to become. The world premiere of Fatherland took place at theRoyal Exchange Theatre, Manchester on 5 July 2017 as part ofManchester International Festival. This is a revised version of theoriginal text which coincides with performances in London at theLyric Hammersmith as part of LIFT 2018.
