This is his day-by-day record,from the fall of the tsar to the Bolshevik seizure of power. Hispen brings to life the events in the streets if Petrograd and thestruggle in the Soviets. He gives vivid portraits both of theleaders and of the workers and soldiers who made the revolution.Raskolnikov was to become a fighter against Stalinism. In August1939 he wrote his ‘Open Letter to Stalin’, included in this book. Amonth later came the news of his sudden death.
